These documents show the areas of maths covered within each year group across the year. They will give you a rough guide to what your children will be doing in maths over a period of time. However, it is worth noting that due to on-going assessment, some areas may be focussed on for an extended period of time to ensure all children have gained the necessary understanding.
The following document outlines the yearly mathematics overview for all four year groups.
We teach several methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division across school. These progress from methods in Year 3 and Year 4 where place value is very explicit to methods in Year 5 and Year 6 where place value is much more implicit. These tutorials will help to guide you through the methods we teach in school.
There a huge number of free websites which can be great for extending or consolidating your children's learning. As a school, we use to support the children in their home learning but there are a large number of other websites which offer a range of activities and games which will help to consolidate learning.
Please note, these websites are not monitored or regularly accessed by Hunter's Bar Junior School staff.
