Back to school

Back to school routine:
  • Arrive at school between 8.50 and 9.00 through the Sharrowvale Road gate and enter the bottom yard.
  • Enter the school through the Manual Staircase door, hand sanitising on the way in.
  • Leave all your belongings from home in the cloakroom on the peg with your name on.
  • Come into class and find your seat.
And, as always, if you're unsure of anything, ask an adult. There'll be plenty around to help.

Well, we've got through the first week and I have to say it was a pleasure to meet (or re-meet) all the children. Mr Hurley says he feels like he's known his children for ever, Mr Allen can't believe how much the children have changed since he last taught them and I'm amazed at how quickly the children have adapted to the 'new normal'.
Every single child seems to have come back with a great attitude and, considering some have been off formal schooling for almost 6 months, it feels like they've barely been gone at all.
The first couple of weeks will be spent looking at who we are and what we have in common, something which we felt was very relevant considering the challenges the world is facing at the moment in terms of divisiveness. We will look at our cultural heritage, communities and look at one of the big challenges facing the nation at the moment, linked to the Black Lives Matter protests.
Following that, we'll be looking at plastic pollution and the impact of humans on the natural environment - again something which is very pertinent at the moment with the apparent huge increase in littering and increase in single use plastic which seems to have happened over the last 6 months.
We're really looking forward to continuing to get to know the children and hopefully getting a chance to meet the parents too. Please trust that we will do everything in our power to keep the children safe and make sure they get back the feeling of safety and security that the school environment provides.
Have a great term without the kids at home!
Mr Preston, Mr Hurley, Mr Allen, Mrs Silvester and Mrs Khurram.
