Reading Book Marks
We would like the children in Y5 to be reading at home every single day in order to develop their reading fluency and comprehension as well as fostering a love of books and having fun!
Your child should take a bookmark home from school each week which can be signed by a parent or carer whenever your child reads for at leas 15 minutes (one signature a day only please).
Once completed these bookmarks are returned to school and entered into a draw where one child a week from Y5 will win a BRAND NEW BOOK!
Not sure what to read? Take a look at the Hunter's Bar Junior School 67 Books to Read Before Leaving HBJ document.

You can also talk to your class teacher, Miss Scott in the school library or Mrs Stockley (a bit of a children's literature expert) if you want a more bespoke recommendation.
Timestable Rockstars

All children have been given a log in for an online maths program which is designed to help children to improve their timestable knowledge. The website is designed to be fun, fast pace and to help with mathematical fluency and speed. Once logged in, children can practice their multiplication tables in a range of different ways, challenge their buddies in school and compete with children from all over the globe.
The expectation is that children should log on at least 4 times a week for at least 5 minutes - although spending a little longer or logging on more frequently would be fantastic too.
All children have been shown Timestable Rockstars and schools and should be able to show you at home how it all works.
Have fun and rock on!
