Mindfulness and Physical Activity Page

Mindfulness and Physical Activity Page

Hello and welcome to the HBJ Well Being and Physical Activity Page. This page is designed to give pupils, parents and carers ideas to support both mental and physical health during this time of school closure. Bellow are some useful links to resources which can be used to support mental wellbeing and physical health along with some suggestions as to how best to use these resources.

Keep tuning into this page for more suggestions, ideas and maybe even some contact from HBJ staff having a go at keeping themselves physically and mentally healthy whilst school remains shut.

Whilst away from school, we would like children to carry out at least 30 minutes of physical exercise each day and at least 10 minutes of mindfulness and wellbeing activities.

Here are some good suggestions to support with keeping both physically and mentally healthy.

  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNHLhHyjbd0  make the following mindfulness mediation part of your daily routine. We suggest doing this prior to the start of the school day timetabled above and again at the end of the school day.

  2. https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/joinin/seven-techniques-for-helping-kids-keep-calm this link gives great tips to stay calm and mindful.

  3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p062glb7/daydreams-cbeebies-wind-down a nice long ‘daydream’ video to help you relax at the end of the day.

  4. Use the 12 mindful minute cards, which are on this year group page, to have short brain breaks throughout the day and to reflect regularly.

  5. Use the Wimbledon AFC workout sheets on your year group page to design your own 10-15 minute home workouts. You could use these to create a family challenge.

  6. To keep active, have a look at ‘active at home’ ideas sheet and use the following links to access great resources to help you all get moving

Mr Hurley and son do Joe Wicks (sorry about the camera work).
Joe Wicks Free P.E.
"Oi oi!"
For those of you not aware of Joe Wicks, he is a personal trainer and cookbook author with a passion for fitness and helping people to make healthy lifestyle choices. The children at Hunter's Bar might be familiar with him from some in class workouts and P.E. lesson slots at school.

During the period of school closure, Joe has kindly offered to stream a live 'P.E. lesson' every weekday morning at 9am. The link to this is here
It would be fantastic way to make an active start to your day and to join a community of children all doing the same workout at the same time.

Joe also has lots of child (and adult) friendly workouts on YouTube. Most of these last no more than 20 minutes and are a great way to get active. "Bosh!"

A massive well done to everybody who has complete a full week of workouts with Mrs Hersey, Mrs McGregor and, of course, Joe Wicks!!#Day5

Don't forget to keep active everybody.
Mrs Hersey & Mrs McGregor are working their way through the Just Dance catalogue of routines....why not join them!
